Creating sustainable value together

At Leeds Trinity University, through our Strategic Plan, and our new Sustainable Value Creation Framework, we are committed to embedding sustainability into everything we do, taking active responsibility for our environmental, social, cultural and economic impacts. By empowering our whole community and building on our core values and mission, we will create long lasting value and positive impact for our university community, our society and the environment.

Through our mission to empower our community to reach their full potential, we aim to transform lives and make a positive impact on society. Rooted in our Catholic foundations, we believe that the most effective way to achieve this is to operate in a way which creates value for all, underpinned by our commitment to social justice, anti-racism and equity.  By building on our core values and embedding our approach to sustainability into everything we do, together, we will create value internally and externally through:

  • Supporting the long-term, sustainable future for the university
  • Empowering our students to develop the skills and knowledge they need to make a difference in the world, as local and global citizens
  • Supporting our staff to thrive at all levels and have agency to generate positive value
  • Improving the environment through our actions
  • Collaborating with our wider communities to improve social and environmental equity
  • Considering social justice and value creation in all our activities, decision making and operations

We are committed to working towards solving global challenges and are signatories to the SDG Accord, a global promise to play a key role in fighting local, national and global injustice, through contributing towards achieving the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).  This means that we are committing to contribute towards these 17 global sustainability goals through all of our activities, such as embedding principles through our policies and processes, delivering through our teaching, research, operations and outreach, and sharing learning with others.
We want all of our colleagues and students to understand the role they can have in supporting the sustainability value creation agenda, now and in the future. That’s why we have committed to embedding education for sustainable development into all of our degree courses and have developed an integrated framework, to do just that.

Our Institution wide Sustainable Value Creation Framework (due to be launched during 2025) will show how everyone has a role to play in our sustainability journey. Over the coming years we will continue to work together to embed and drive sustainability value creation through our activities and our culture.

We will do so equitably and inclusively, as part of Leeds Trinity’s values and mission, which promote social solidarity and the common good, through our commitment to social justice, enhancing opportunities, collaboration and adding positive value to the lives of our whole community and beyond.

Sustainability is a journey, and we may not have all the answers right now. We also know we have a way to go to get to where we want to be. However, we commit to working together to keep asking questions and find solutions that add positive value for all.
