Sports Therapy and Rehabilitation suite
/filters:quality(80)/prod01/channel_2/media/site-assets/images/ug-2025/LTU_Day2_101.jpg)
Sports Therapy and Rehabilitation suite
This suite is used extensively for the Sports Therapy and Rehabilitation course, teaching and practical skills development.
Students will also use the Strength and Conditioning Suite to learn how to use resistance/weight training to support rehabilitation from injury and return to play interventions.

Motion Capture suite
/filters:quality(80)/prod01/channel_2/media/site-assets/images/school-alumni-profile-images/LeedsTrinity_July21_Day2_112.jpg)
Motion Capture suite
Biomechanical analysis (of human movement, in sport, exercise and occupational settings) takes place in the Motion Capture Suite. Equipment includes:
- High-speed camera equipment (which uses the same technology as CGI animation) to turn any human movement into a computer-generated image which can then be subject to a range of analyses.
- A Force plate - measures forces applied when walking, running, jumping or any other movement where pressure is applied to the ground. This, in conjunction with the high-speed cameras, gives us a very detailed set of data about human movement.

Sports Science lab
The lab is used for physiological assessment. Tests and equipment includes:
- VO2 max tests, which measure endurance capacity (using treadmills or exercise bikes).
- Wingate tests (on the bikes), which measure explosive power outputs.
- 'Gas analysis’ equipment (including Douglas bags) are used to collect and analyse expired air during exercise.
- GPS monitoring devices (as used in professional football and rugby) to track human movement and changes of direction during sport or exercise activity.
We use this lab with external sports clubs and athletes, and all students studying Sports and Exercise Science modules get to learn how to use these pieces of kit.

Strength and Conditioning suite
This practical teaching facility is designed to help you learn how to instruct strength and conditioning activities for athletes and exercisers to aid performance and support injury prevention and rehabilitation.
Equipment includes:
- Free weights (including Olympic weights platforms)
- Resistance training equipment
