Domestic abuse

Domestic abuse covers a range of behaviours which may include coercion, controlling or threatening behaviour, or violence that is occurring within an intimate or family relationship. The abuse may be financial, psychological, physical or sexual.

Gender-based violence

Gender-based violence (GBV) is a term that is used to describe harm that is inflicted on a person, or group of people, because of their actual or perceived gender. Like domestic abuse, it can include financial, psychological, physical or sexual harms. GBV may also occur within the context of domestic abuse.
