If it hadn’t been for the experience gained and the support given to me from lecturers at Leeds Trinity I would never have been able to have gotten this role that will hopefully kickstart my career in production management.

Why I chose to attend Leeds Trinity

I came from Ireland to study Film at Leeds Trinity as part of the Erasmus programme. I found the practical and hands-on experience to be extremely beneficial to me and helped me learn outside of a theoretical standpoint.

Amazing opportunities

I got the opportunity to try all of the roles associated with making films, such as producer, director, camera operator, and this experience refocused me and made me realise I wanted to pursue production management after university. It was due to the practical experience, close support and placement offered by Leeds Trinity that made me decide to stay after my year abroad was finished and complete my studies here.

Valuable placement opportunity

In my final year, I completed a placement with Story Film & Photography. I gained so much practical experience there, from helping on shoots, to learning about pre-production paperwork and assisting with postproduction and editing, and altogether found it really beneficial to get the chance to learn in a working environment, alongside my studies.

Securing my graduate role

It was from the experience and work placement I received as part of my education at Leeds Trinity that I was able to secure a role as a Production Assistant at BriteSpark Films, as part of the PACT Indie Training Scheme. This company makes factual content for broadcasters such as Channel 4, Channel 5, and Discovery.

I have gained experience in every facet of production including paperwork, on location shoots and also provides training from ScreenSkills in areas such as CV development, production management, camera training and scripted development.

My advice to other students thinking of studying at Leeds Trinity
