Sports Therapy and Rehabilitation Practitioner
After completing my degree I continued to run my own mobile business AM Therapy, and travel all around the UK providing support and my expertise within a sporting environment at clinics.
Why I chose to attend Leeds Trinity and my favourite memories
I chose Leeds Trinity University as it was a smaller institution and I instantly picked up on the amazing support that was in place, compared to bigger institutions. I was confident I could develop and thrive in this environment.
One of my most memorable times at Leeds Trinity was being able to grow and get the support I needed to believe in myself and get the experience I wanted. I was able to continue my development in a sporting environment, having previously participated in sport at an elite level.
What I enjoyed most about the course
I was the first cohort to undertake the Sports Therapy and Rehabilitation degree so I was able to see its progression and support by providing feedback to make the course better for students. I enjoyed the practical sessions so that I could get so much hands-on experience.
I had the freedom to go and research topics that I was interested in and then come back to talk about my research which gave me a greater understanding in Sports Therapy. I also worked at multiple boxing gyms as their Lead Sport Rehabilitation Practitioner.
My career after graduation
After completing my degree I continued to run my own mobile business AM Therapy, and travel all around the UK providing support and my expertise within a sporting environment at clinics. I also continued my passion in supporting the elderly and improving their quality of life.
Despite being mainly based in the South Yorkshire area, I also go to other places such as West Yorkshire and even down towards London at times. I am growing quickly and I am excited by the challenges ahead. I manage my own portfolio including promotional work as well as the bookings and treatments side of things.
I utilise the skills and knowledge that I have learned through my degree and other courses I have undertaken in my daily practices.
My advice to students
I would advise for students to be proactive. If you have a question to ask, then ask it, as I’m sure it would give some clarity to the whole class. I say this from my own experience, as some people don’t want to ask but it is well worth the effort, as you are speaking to professionals in the field. Always give it your best try as that is within your control and don’t stress yourself out as various support is always on hand.
