Floor Manager, McDonald's
I have loved the opportunity to also work as a Student Ambassador and being able to tell prospective students what a great place Leeds Trinity is to study at!
Why I chose to attend Leeds Trinity
I chose to study at Leeds trinity as the size and the community feel really stood out, plus I was far enough from home to be independent but still close enough to feel comfortable. The course also had the necessary entry requirements for me.
My best undergraduate student memories
I’ve benefitted from having amazing course mates who are now close friends as well as the brilliant lecturers who have always been so supportive.
Opportunities to get involved
I have loved the opportunity to also work as a Student Ambassador and being able to tell prospective students what a great place Leeds Trinity is to study at! I have given tours and worked on numerous open days.
As an undergraduate student I was heavily involved with the Students’ Union, by acting as a course rep. On top of this I ran a campaign to improve the provision of vegan food in the Dining Hall. Returning as a post graduate student enabled me to get involved again and I successfully applied for the role as a Post Graduate Officer, this enabled me to help other students and offer advice.
I have also supported students as a Peer Learning Mentor. This role involves supporting their transition to university, assignments, placement guidance, essay writing, revision skills and time management.
Utilising the placement opportunities
In my first year I was able to take full advantage of a placement with CAFOD and continue this by working with them for two years. An opportunity arose on a volunteering module to be their social media representative and on top of this I also developed my office skills and often did the ‘meet and greets’ for external visitors.
Helping me take my next step
My time at Leeds Trinity as an undergraduate student prepared me for my next step which was embarking on an MA in Victorian Studies. I continued to study at Leeds Trinity because I adore the atmosphere and the support I have. The small class size enabled me to come back to a style of learning I was used to and very comfortable with.
My advice to others considering studying at Leeds Trinity
My advice would be to explore what Leeds Trinity has to offer, sometimes people think a small university may not have it all when in fact it does. Be yourself and get stuck in to university life. Have fun and make friends in your own time.
