Three students sit around a table in a café, working on laptops and chatting. One student is smiling and engaged in conversation, while another types on their device. Coffee cups and phones are on the table, and other students are visible in the background..

Student finance explained

What to do if your course or university has changed

  • Already applied for student finance?
Log in to your Student Finance account and update your course and university details. This makes sure your funding goes to the right place on time.

  • Haven't applied yet?
You can still apply for student finance online to get a tuition fee loan and maintenance loan.
Do this as soon as possible - you don't need a confirmed place.
It only takes about 30 minutes as long as you've got your passport details, National Insurance number and UK bank details, but it can take a few weeks to process.

  • Changed your accommodation plans?
You may need to update your living arrangements in your Student Finance account if you're moving from home to halls or vice versa, as it can affect how much you receive.

Tuition fees for 2025–26

Most undergraduate courses are £9,535 per year. Some foundation years are £5,760 or £9,535, depending on the subject - fees are outlined on the course page. These fees may increase each academic year in line with inflation or UK government policy.

If you're not eligible for a loan, you'll need to pay fees directly to Leeds Trinity.

Email finance@leedstrinity.ac.uk for advice or book a call with our Money Advice team.

Support for living costs

You may be able to apply for a maintenance loan to help with rent, food and travel costs.

This can range from £3,907 to £10,544, depending on factors including where you're living and your household income.

You can use the Student Finance Calculator to work out how much you'll get.

There's also additional support if you have a disability or children. It can take Student Finance longer to process your application, so you might get a smaller amount to start with.

We'll let Student Finance know when you've registered for your course so they can release your first payment.

You can check your payment schedule on the Student Finance website.

Who's eligible?

Most UK students are eligible for funding if you meet residency and course-level requirements.

Repaying your loans

You won’t start repaying anything until the April after you leave university, and only when you're earning above the repayment threshold.

Learn more about repayments on the Student Finance website.
