- Working as a part of a team to ensure projects are completed within the scheduled time
Apprentices will gain expertise in cost management, procurement and quantification methods using industry software by working collaboratively with very experienced teaching staff and visiting industry practitioners.
The programme aims to equip apprentices with knowledge of construction technologies, digital applications and BIM (Building Information Modelling), including sustainability, while also offering the fundamental skills and knowledge required in modern construction pathways for tendering and estimation.
Our apprentices will gain expertise in cost engineering management using Construction IT software, used frequently within the construction management industry.
Alongside the degree, apprentices will be supervised in completing their learning portfolio leading to Gateway and the Quantity Surveyor Chartered Status Assessment of Professional Competence (APC) examination.
Graduates will also gain recognition and accreditation by the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS).

The apprentice will use quantitative and qualitative methods, including the preparation of bills of quantities.
This course also covers resource identification, construction sequencing, and architectural drawing interpretation.
The Reflective Apprentice - Core
This module aims to equip apprentices with reflective models and theories, facilitating their ability to review and assess experiential learning, particularly gained from work environments.
Within their Portfolio, apprentices will gather evidence of their learning, establishing connections between their job role, apprenticeship, and degree to ensure comprehensive coverage of the apprenticeship standard. By fostering a culture of continuous reflection, apprentices will be encouraged to monitor their progress and strategically plan for the next stages of their programme.
Year 2
During the second year, the apprentice will study four core modules.
Construction Economics - Core

Apprentices will explore methods to analyse and evaluate their work-based knowledge, developing skills in presenting their learning achievements clearly and coherently. The module emphasises the connection between personal learning outcomes and professional growth, encouraging apprentices to map their experiences to their apprenticeship standards.
Apprentices will also take ownership of planning a coherent learning programme that aligns with their academic goals and job responsibilities, ensuring continuous development throughout their apprenticeship.
Year 3
During the third year, the apprentice will study four core modules.
Procurement and Contract Administration - Core
Apprentices will be introduced to contract procurement and administration principles, focusing on the roles of administrators, quantity surveyors, and project managers.

Fees and finance
Costs of programme
The cost of the full degree apprenticeship programme is £27,000.
Funding
Degree Apprenticeships are fully funded by your employer if their wage bill is over £3 million each year.
The government will fund up to 95% of the apprenticeship’s course fees, up to the relevant funding band, if the organisation has spent all its levy or has an annual wage bill below £3 million each year. Employers who do not pay the apprenticeship levy contribute 5% towards the total cost of the apprenticeship, the ESFA will contribute the other 95% directly to the University. Employers must have an account with the Apprenticeship Service Account to be able to reserve Government funding for an apprenticeship. This reservation ensures that funds will be available to pay for the training from the point the apprenticeship starts.
Read more about how levy payments work at the UK Government website.
