Your questions answered
What facilities are available for commuter students?
Both our Horsforth Campus and Leeds City Campus are equipped to make your day as smooth and comfortable as possible.
You'll find charging points, communal seating areas, and plenty of places to study between lectures.
Where can I eat or heat up my food?
There are microwaves at the Horsforth Campus just outside the Dining Room.
Both campuses have a range of food and drink options, and you'll get a discount on hot drinks if you bring a reusable Wipe Out Waste cup.
Can I store my belongings on campus?
Yes - at City Campus. Lockers are available in the City Campus basement.
Are there showers or changing facilities?
Yes. The City Campus has showers and changing facilities in the basement.
At the Horsforth Campus, you can use the showers in the Sports Centre if you're a Trinity Fitness member.
Where can I sit and relax between lectures?
There are lots of social spaces to choose from.
At Horsforth Campus, popular spots include the Atrium, the Dining Room and the Andrew Kean Learning Centre.
At City Campus, you'll find soft seating, open spaces and Wi-Fi on every floor.
Is there anywhere quiet I can study?
Definitely. Both campuses offer quiet zones and dedicated study areas.
Head to the Andrew Kean Learning Centre at Horsforth Campus or the silent study areas and pods in the City Campus library.
Can I use both campuses?
Yes - your student ID card gives you access to all facilities at both sites.
Whether you're based at Horsforth Campus or City Campus, you're welcome to use what you need at either.
Can I drive to campus and park?
You can, but parking at the Horsforth Campus is limited. We recommend using public transport or the free shuttle bus from Horsforth Train Station if you can.
If you need to drive, there’s a first-come, first-served pay-and-display system on weekdays (£5 a day), and you can pay by cash, card or the RingGo app.
There’s no student parking at City Campus, but nearby public car parks include Trinity Leeds, Leeds Station and Q-Park The Light.

How do I plan travel around my timetable?
Start by checking how long your journey takes, including walking or waiting time.
Allow extra time at first while you get used to the routine.
Once you know your route, you can check your timetable and plan your day around it.
What if there’s a problem with my transport?
Sometimes delays can't be helped, but it's always important to have a backup plan, as attendance is important.
If you're going to be late or miss a session, you must let your lecturer know by email as soon as possible so you can catch up on everything you've missed.
What if I arrive early or need to stay late?
Campuses open early and stay accessible into the evening, especially during assessment periods.
You'll always be able to find a warm, safe place to work or wait for your lift or train.
How can I meet people if I'm not living on campus?
One of the best ways to meet people is by chatting to others on your course or joining a student society.
Most societies run free taster sessions at the start of term, so it's easy to try something new.
All the latest events are listed on myLTU.
Are there events or groups for commuter students?
Yes - we run daytime events and drop-ins designed especially with commuter students in mind.
You'll also find flexible societies and activities you can join around your schedule.
What support is available for my wellbeing?
Both campuses offer wellbeing services including quiet zones, drop-in spaces and appointments with the Student Support team and the Mental Health and Wellbeing team.
You'll also have access to multi-faith prayer and reflection spaces.
