The Centre is home to the University's higher and degree apprenticeship programmes and work-based learning provision. It is headed up by Claire Newhouse, Head of Apprenticeships and Skills, who leads a team of specialist tutors and support staff.

Claire said: "We've created the Centre to focus on developing and delivering more professionally-relevant programmes for our employer partners. A dedicated team have been brought together to provide specialist teaching, support and advice for both employers and apprentices alike, ensuring that businesses can recruit the workforce of tomorrow and upskill their existing employees."

Leeds Trinity introduced degree apprenticeships in October 2017 with a cohort of 15 apprentices on the Chartered Manager Degree Apprenticeship programme. Since then, the University has welcomed apprentices across five additional programmes, with numbers expected to be exceed 500 by October 2020. Most recently, West Yorkshire Police, in partnership with Leeds Trinity, announced that 300 new Police Officers will study for a Police Constable Degree Apprenticeship at the University from July 2020.

Many of the apprenticeships at Leeds Trinity are developed using the University's Work-based Learning Framework, which is a flexible way to give value to the knowledge and skills which are developed in the workplace.

Professor Margaret A House OBE, Vice-Chancellor at Leeds Trinity University, said: "Leeds Trinity has made enormous progress in this area, reaching over 200 apprenticeship starts this year.  I am very proud of the way the University has responded to employer demand, and the skills needs of the local economy. We are very excited about developing our provision further, and have created a Centre for Apprenticeships, Work-based Learning and Skills to enable this excellent work to continue."
