A team of Leeds Trinity University students has been shortlisted for the final of a national marketing competition organised by the Chartered Institute of Marketing (CIM).
Marketing students Charlotte Parker, Chelsey Halifax and Ikraa Hussain, who make up the Leeds Trinity team ‘Wild Cats’, will compete against university teams across the UK in the live final of CIM’s The Pitch.
Now in its tenth year, The Pitch saw teams from across the country compete for one of nine places in the live final on Friday 19 March. During the virtual final, teams will respond to a live client brief from event sponsor Samsung and find creative ways to market the technology company’s new foldable mobile phone category to Generation Z consumers.
The three winning teams of the competition will be presented with the ‘Marketers of the Future’ award. They will also receive a one-year complimentary CIM membership and one of the latest products from Samsung’s mobile device range.
Chelsey Halifax, Business and Marketing student at Leeds Trinity University, said: “This was a really exciting opportunity to get an award and win a prize and I’m so pleased we decided to enter. The task was fun and gave us a chance to work on a project that will be beneficial when making the transition into our careers!”
Gaynor Cross, Programme Lead for Business and Marketing at Leeds Trinity University, said: “The Business School was delighted that one of the two teams submitting proposals have reached the live final of The Pitch competition. Both teams put forward excellent recommendations which were suitably explained and justified. Our level 5 team received positive feedback from the panel at CIM. Taking part in national initiatives such as this enables our students to gain valuable skills which prepare them for the workplace and successful careers.”
