Leeds Trinity student Megan Price has graduated with a degree in Secondary Education, Physical Education and Sport, and a place at the University to study for a Postgraduate Certificate in Education (PGCE).

The 22-year-old combined her studies with playing Rugby League for Leeds Rhinos and Huddersfield Giants. The young mum also gave birth to her now 11-month-old baby girl whilst at university.
Megan was drawn to Leeds Trinity after completing her studies at Bradford College and immediately feeling the sense of community and support after attending an Open Day on campus.
During her time at university, Megan joined the Women’s Rugby Union team and was made Vice Captain in her final year. She was also selected to train in the England Students’ Women’s RFL Squad in 2020.
Despite the challenges of COVID-19 and giving birth during the pandemic, Megan is graduating with the degree she needed to pursue her PGCE to teach Physical Education, which she is undertaking at Leeds Trinity.
Having always aspired to be a PE teacher, Megan is hoping to support her hometown of Bradford by making a difference to the lives of underprivileged children through teaching and physical education.
Megan said: “Due to the level of support I have received from Leeds Trinity University, I have managed to maintain and complete my degree during COVID-19 and related lockdowns. On top of this, as the first lockdown was announced I found out I was pregnant. Although lectures were delivered through online platforms, I still received excellent support and now have the most amazing baby girl.
“Leeds Trinity University could not have done any more for me and I am forever grateful. My time at Leeds Trinity has shaped me into a resilient and determined individual, I feel as though I have succeeded through the most challenging of times and I now believe that anything is possible.”
Sarah Todd, Sports Development Manager at Leeds Trinity, said: “I’m really proud of Megan having completed her degree programme. She has juggled a lot throughout her time at Leeds Trinity and it just goes to show how organised and driven she is.
“Megan is a fantastic Rugby League player who was successfully selected for the English Universities Rugby League squad. Not only did Megan play Rugby League at a performance level, but she was also a key player and driving force in our Rugby Union club. I wish Megan all the best for the future, I know she will go on to do great things.”
