Sophie joined Leeds Trinity in September 2020 and has consistently demonstrated strong academic performance and engaged commitment across three years on her course, but by her own admission started off as a shy and quiet character who was hesitant to put her thoughts and ideas across.

However, with the support and guidance of lecturers and tutors, who Sophie says showed belief in her from her very first day on the course, she has been able to discover her self-confidence and step out of her comfort zone. During her time at Leeds Trinity, Sophie has been the student representative for her course and the School of Business, Computing and Digital Industries, where she aimed to improve the student experience by using her voice to provide feedback to the school board, while she also sat on the board for the Leeds Trinity University Enactus Society, requiring her to work with a range of individuals, with an aim to tackle numerous societal issues.

As she graduates with the highest marks in the School of Business, Sophie says she is appreciative of all the help she has received and feels prepared to take on life after university. 

“I am ecstatic to be graduating with not only a degree, but a lifetime of memories. My time at Leeds Trinity has been great,” Sophie said. “My confidence has really developed thanks to the faith my lecturers showed in me, which encouraged me to trust in myself more too. Now I have that self-belief, I am confident that I can achieve my dreams and will be successful with future business and career ventures.

“I would like to say a huge thank you to all who have been a part of my university journey, I am truly grateful for the experience I have had here at Leeds Trinity.”

Sophie has already started to make a name for herself with businesspeople in the Yorkshire region having impressively pitched a sustainable business idea at the recent Yorkshire Business Summit, held at the University’s Horsforth campus. Her proposal of a service that helps high school students with their mental health through arts and crafts using recycled material impressed the judges and saw her selected as the winner of a cash prize to put towards launching the project. The industry contacts and impression she made at the event will boost her career options after graduation.

She is polite, cheerful and has been a true ambassador for the Business School and the institution. I know that she will be a valuable asset to any organisation.”
