The grant was secured through the Royal Academy of Engineering Visiting Professors Scheme, following a highly competitive process. Dr Ruth Brown-Shepherd, owner of scientific consultancy SYJTL, will join the Business School as a Visiting Professor, as part of the scheme. Dr Brown-Shepherd will work with Professor Yanguo Jing, Dean of the Faculty of Business, Computing and Digital Industries, to support Leeds Trinity’s Computer Science students in building employability and industry engagement skills.

Professor Yanguo Jing said: “It is humbling to see our approach of enhancing our Computer Science students’ employability and entrepreneurship has been endorsed by this prestigious Royal Academy of Engineering award. We have already seen a significant growth in our Computer Science provision and its positive graduate outcomes.

“This project together with our recent success in securing funding to offer postgraduate conversion courses in AI and data science, further strengthens our ambition to continue offering industry-ready learning experience for our Computer Science students and graduates. I expect over 300 students to benefit from the teaching and expertise of our new Visiting Professor over the next three years and look forward to the results.”
