Leeds Trinity University is supporting the Leeds Digital Festival for the third year running, joining the celebration of digital culture and innovation as it prepares to open its new Leeds City Campus in the 2024/2025 academic year.
Leeds Digital Festival is now the largest ‘open’ tech event in the UK, showcasing digital enterprise and innovation in the city as it celebrates the people and groups who make Leeds and the North such a vibrant hub for digital.
April’s ‘mini-fest’, as well as the main festival in September, highlight digital culture in all its forms through a variety of tech and digital events and opportunities to network with the most exciting organisations in Leeds.
Leeds Trinity University is sponsoring the festival as part of its work to recognise and support innovation in the region, inspire its students to thrive in the digital world and build strong relationships across the city.
Opening in the 2024/25 academic year, Leeds Trinity’s City Campus, located at 1 Trevelyan Square in Leeds, will enable the University to work even more closely with key partners and employers, many of whom are fellow sponsors and hosts for the Leeds Digital Festival.
The City Campus will be home to the University’s Business School, School of Computer Science and Law School, in addition to its School of Construction and the Built Environment, and School of Criminology, Investigation and Policing.
The central location is complementary to the University’s Main Campus in Horsforth and places Leeds Trinity at the heart of the city, connecting with businesses and employers, responding to the city’s continued growth and supporting demand for skills.
With a particular focus on enhancing partnerships with businesses in the tech and law industries initially, the University is seeking to create more opportunities for its students to work with employers in Leeds as it establishes itself as a key education provider and partner for the sectors.
Through its support of Leeds Digital Festival, Leeds Trinity colleagues and students will join networking sessions with some of those at the forefront of tech and digital innovation in Leeds, and host sessions as part of the main festival in September.
Charlotte Rainey, Employer Partnerships Manager at Leeds Trinity University, said: “We are thrilled to sponsor the Leeds Digital Festival, a major event for the tech and digital community in Leeds and the North. As a university, our focus is on providing career-led opportunities for our students. Supporting this festival underscored our commitment to helping our students and graduates thrive in the digital world.”
Stuart Clarke MBE, Festival Director, said: “Leeds stands out as a centre of excellence for STEM (science, technology, engineering and mathematics) education and we're keen to keep these exceptional graduates in the city after they complete their studies. By supporting Leeds Digital and the Festival, universities such as Leeds Trinity help us to connect academia and industry, to promote the range of opportunities we have in the city for exciting and varied careers within our thriving digital and tech sector."
