The summit brings together experts and researchers from across the world, to discuss global issues such as trade, sustainable development, health, agriculture, energy, the environment, climate change and the fight against corruption. Dr Ann Marie Mealey will present her research to the panel of experts from the Values 20 (V20) Group, which strives to provide evidence-based, human-centred policy solutions that contribute to overcoming global challenges. In addition, her research of ethics and education will be included in the latest official V20 communiqué (report), which will be presented to the G20 – a group of world leaders, who meet annually to discuss global policy.

Dr Mealey has contributed a chapter to the report, titled Toward a Pedagogy of Peace: Promoting the Values - Driven Pedagogy of a More Just Global World. She will give input on evolutionary education, a focus area of the V20 group, drawing on her research and extensive experience as a Catholic ethicist and senior academic in Higher Education.

Dr Ann Marie Mealey said: “I am thrilled and honoured to be selected to contribute to the live global panel on evolutionary education as part of the V20 Summit in Rio. It is a real high point in my career so far to have my research included in a chapter that will be presented – along with others in our research group – in the official V20 communiqué to the G20. We are hopeful that some of what we have found as a group will help to shape the thinking around global, values-driven education policy going forward.”

Charles Fowler, member of the V20 and Chair of the Human Values Foundation, said: “The G20 group of world leaders represent 85% of the global economy and it is vital for the future of the world that their policy decisions are embedded with positive values that support the wellbeing of the planet. Values 20 plays a key role in the policy-making process by putting forward practical ways in which this can be done, harnessing the experience of Dr Ann Marie Mealey and many other experts in important areas of policymaking."
