Leeds Trinity University hosts mayoral dinner at new Leeds City Campus

Leeds Trinity University hosted a mayoral dinner which included key stakeholders from across the region at its new City Campus in the centre of Leeds.

The University’s Vice-Chancellor Professor Charles Egbu welcomed Tracy Brabin, Mayor of West Yorkshire, to 1 Trevelyan Square on Wednesday 26 March, to discuss maximising opportunities in the region. They were joined by the Vice-Chancellors of all the regional universities, Dr Peter O’Brian, Executive Director of Yorkshire Universities, and key members of the West Yorkshire Combined Authority (WYCA) team.  

The meeting afforded the VCs and the Mayor an opportunity to discuss progress on key projects and initiatives on-going in the region as well the importance of collaboration between regional universities and WYCA in maximising opportunities in our region. 

Key items discussed included the Local Growth Plan, Y-PERN (the Yorkshire & Humber Policy Engagement & Research Network), Y-PIP (the Yorkshire & Humber Policy Innovation Partnership) and Local Skills Improvement Plans.  

Professor Charles Egbu, Vice-Chancellor of Leeds Trinity University said: “It was a pleasure to welcome the Mayor of West Yorkshire, Tracy Brabin, fellow regional Vice-Chancellors and key stakeholders from Yorkshire Universities and the West Yorkshire Combined Authority to our new City Campus to discuss collaboration and future opportunities for our sector and region. I look forward to continuing this work and supporting our students and graduates in creating impact in our city and region across a wide range of industries.”
