Professor Charles Egbu reflects on his first month in post as the Vice-Chancellor of Leeds Trinity University.

In a video message for staff, students, alumni and partners, Professor Egbu has shared his first impressions of the University and thanked everyone for a very warm welcome.

Filmed on the institution’s COVID-secure campus, Professor Egbu notes the challenges all stakeholders have faced during the pandemic, and how the University’s foundations have enabled it to respond and put supporting students at the heart of its approach.

Professor Egbu said: “What’s clear to me from my first month is just how special Leeds Trinity University is. I’m so proud to be part of an institution which is led by its commitment to widening participation and championing an inclusive learning community.

“The University has a strong reputation in this area and it’s more important than ever to ensure we are providing excellent opportunities that will support and prepare students for their futures, whatever their background or ambition.

“It’s clear that, guided by our core values of care, collaboration, integrity, excellence and inclusivity, we can and do make a real impact.”

Over the coming months, Professor Egbu will continue to meet students, staff, alumni and stakeholders to build on the University’s recent growth and shape the future strategy of the institution.
